Teacher

I’ve been dancing since the age of 4 and had been to a couple of different dance schools, but it wasn’t until I started dancing first at Miss Wendy Searle’s old school and then at WSDA that I found a real passion for it. I trained at WSDA for nearly 10 years and took exams all the way up to my professional exams. It wouldn’t have been without WSDA and the team of amazing teachers that I would have been able to begin to train for and take my teaching qualifications at NLDA College.

I assisted for Wendy for many years and then became a teacher in the school and I have to say it is the biggest pleasure to be able to work with the children in the school right from baby classes to senior classes. I have taught both exam classes in ballet, tap and modern and also free classes in stretch and technique, and contemporary at WSDA as well as being offered teaching jobs in other schools, including in Manchester. WSDA is honestly the biggest family and biggest support system out there and I am so grateful to work here and be surrounded by the other fabulous teachers and students.

The teachers at WSDA have the unofficial role of being a listener, a motivator, an advise giver, a cheerleader and a friend and similarly, for me personally, the students have helped me to grow as a person and as a teacher and without fail make me laugh every lesson. As you all know I’m not one for being soppy, but we really are a big family and I am so proud of how far we have all come in the space of a couple of years.
