Commercial Dance
Non-syllabus Class
Commercial dance encompasses a range of styles including street, hip-hop, krumping and popping. This style of dance has become more common in recent years as it has become more prominent in music videos, advert campaigns, in films and on various television programmes.
Commercial classes are an upbeat, fun environment and a great way to boost confidence.
WSDA offer commercial classes for ages 3 and upward.
Contemporary
Non-syllabus class
Contemporary is an expressive style of dance that combines modern, lyrical and ballet styles in order to allow the dancer to portray a story to their audience.
This style of dance gives the students an opportunity to express emotion whilst demonstrating strong technique and flexibility.
WSDA offers contemporary classes for ages 6 and upward.
Musical Theatre
Non-syllabus class
Musical theatre combines singing, spoken dialogue and movement in order to produce a piece of theatre designed to entertain.
Our musical theatre classes allow students an opportunity to develop confidence and teamwork as well as learning to listen, share and co-create with their peers. Not only are these fundamental skills needed for a career in the arts, but they will be of great benefit in whatever the future holds for the students.
WSDA offer musical theatre classes for ages 3 and upward.
Ballet
Syllabus class
Ballet is a classical dance style which develops a high level of technique and strength. It is a beautiful art form but also helps with posture, discipline, strength and co-ordination. Ballet is essential for any student wanting to have a career in the dance industry.
At WSDA we follow the ISTD Classical Ballet syllabus and teach grades Pre-primary to Intermediate. Ballet requires discipline but in keeping with the schools’ philosophy, we endeavour to keep classes fun and engaging.
WSDA offer Ballet classes for ages 2 and a half and upward.
Modern Dance
Syllabus class
Modern is a theatrical, free expressive style of dance that is often seen in West End shows. At WSDA we follow the ISTD syllabus which develops a high level of technique, strength and flexibility.
WSDA offer Modern classes for ages 5 and upward.
Tap Dance
Syllabus class
Tap dance was started in America and is becoming more popular each year, this form of dance enhances the students’ rhythm, musicality and co-ordination.
We start this class from 2 and a half years of age as we find children’s technique develops faster from an early age and they love making noise.
Show Class
Non-syllabus class
This is a class where we work on choreographed routines all year round, we regularly get invited to perform at various events including summer fairs, charity shows and dance school showcases. In 2017 we took the show class students to perform in London at the prestigious Saddlers Wells Theatre.
WSDA offer show classes for ages 6 and upward.
Limbering and Body conditioning class
Non-syllabus classical
This is a class designed to improve flexibility, posture, core strength and stamina. This class is vital alongside the other classes for children who are interested in a career in dance.
Singing Class

We offer group lessons and private lessons in singing, I have seen a massive improvement since offering these lessons which are run independently by Gill Harris.
Acrobatics Class

Once a month we are lucky to have our acro coach Liam come to our studios to teach our students. Liam is one of the head coaches at the Airborne Academy in Liverpool.
This is a popular class with our students, where they learn acro skills in a safe and fun environment.
